Courses will be scheduled monthly and will consist of the prescribed ten hours (10) of Classroom Instruction and six hours (6) of actual Behind-The-Wheel Instruction by a qualified driver education instructor. Classroom Instruction will consist of 4 - 2½ hour sessions at the Driver Education Center. The classes are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Summer classes are scheduled in the mornings, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The student will provide his or her own transportation to the Center. Driving sessions (6 one-hour sessions) will be scheduled after school with times available from 1:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Summer driving sessions are from 8am until noon Sessions will run three to four weeks The cost of the course is $250.00 - meets all certification and insurance requirements. Signs, signals, and roadway markings Driver attitude and safety Defensive Driving Familiarity with Oklahoma Driver's Manual Insurance laws and financial responsibility Seat belt use and laws Effects of Natural Laws on driving Effects of alcohol and drugs Basic vehicle maintenance Adverse driving conditions Night driving Handling emergencies BEHIND-THE-WHEEL INSTRUCTION Pre-driving checks and adjustments Familiarity with instruments and controls Basic vehicle maneuvers - starts, stops, turns, backing Lane observance and lane changing Intersection movement and observance Right-of-Way rules Traffic signs, signals and markings Parking on hill, angle park, parallel park Residential, rural, city and highway driving Driving Sessions will be scheduled after enrollment to best accommodate the student and instructor.
